Polylino – a multilingual digital picture book service for children aged 0-7

Align storytime with the Key Stage One Curriculum

At ILT Education, we know how important it is to align teaching resources to the national curriculum. This is why we have partnered with one of the UK’s leading literature experts, Jake Hope, to ensure that there are books on Polylino which support the learning goals for Key Stage One.

As soon as your primary school signs up to Polylino, teachers will have access to our Teacher Guide. This has been carefully written by Jake and details how the books can be used to support teaching Key Stage One.

This is how Polylino supports Key Stage One teaching

  • Inclusive and accessible – Our service has been designed with children with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) as a primary audience. The service and book choice helps to remove some of the barriers which prevent every student in the class from achieving their learning goals. For example, pupils have the ability to zoom in on areas of the digital books so as to make it easier for them to read.
  • Language and literacy – Our digital service allows more children to read together, thereby developing a life-long love of reading and literature.
  • Vocabulary and grammar – By reading more books (physical or digital) children’s breadth of vocabulary and grammar skills will naturally enhance.
  • Phonetics – Polylino can be used to help build and support phonetic awareness. Many of the books on the platform have been selected because they read aloud well and many of the rhetorical devices which aid speaking aloud can also be used to build phonetic awareness – these include alliteration, assonance and consonance. Teachers can select books which feature the phonemes that children are learning about for sharing or storytimes can help embed this learning.
  • Multilingual – Many of the books in the library can be listened to in multiple languages, so the app provides an alternative and engaging way to support language development in children whose first language isn’t English.
  • Preparation for being a member of society – Our books cover a huge range of topics, thereby allowing children to develop culturally, emotionally, intellectually, socially and spiritually through reading.
  • Fuels the imagination of young curious minds – The more books a child reads, the more their imagination is fuelled and their curious young minds can open up a treasure box of wonder and joy.
  • Grow your library – With hundreds of books available in our digital library, Polylino provides a simple way to expand and enhance the library facilities at your school.
  • Home Access – As an add-on to Polylino, schools can choose to purchase Polylino Home Access which allows children to use Polylino at home with their family and continue their learning journey outside the classroom.
